Wishing a thoughtful MLK Jr Day to all. How do you acknowledge the day? Those who have children they feel are old enough to process some of his messages might acknowledge it with their children. We’d love to hear from you? Write to us and tell us at wca@waldorfmoraine.org Your ideas could be our inspiration!

We have a fun class next week. It is the first class featuring a guest speaker and the topic is eurythmy so please make a plan to come and let us know if you wish to utilize the loving childcare option we provide.

We have a few other fun events coming up and you can get involved by visiting the community space and signing up for an activity. See the center panel of the bulletin board for the sign-up sheets.

Soon we will break ground (or wall) on our lending library. We are in the final stages of securing a carpenter and mapping out a timeline for the work. We have stacks of books and magazines waiting to be read by you! We will keep you updated here.

Our general meeting included a helpful tutorial by Gretchen MacKilligan about the BigSis portal. If you missed it and want to learn more please see below for more detail. We were lucky to have Coleen’s help setting up a charitable craft and we enjoyed snacks and catching up on ideas and upcoming events planning. Thank you for all who have made it to our meetings. We will continue to alternate evening meetings with morning meetings to help fit as many of your schedules as possible.

Without further adieu, here are some details on upcoming events.

Upcoming Events

Next WCA General Meeting
Tuesday, February 11, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Childcare will be provided.

News from our last meeting…

Gretchen MacKilligan showed us how to start an account on BigSis portal, an online way to organize our school directory, our school account, our forms and soon, our student reports! So start an account if you haven’t already done so. BigSis was developed by a Waldorf alum so the information is user-friendly for our format of student reports, etc. If you need help logging on you can ask Gretchen for help, preferably on Tuesdays and Thursdays and please avoid drop off and pick up as those are particularly chaotic times.

Eurythmy for Parents
Thursday, January 30, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Trayes Room (childcare provided)
Eurythmy is used therapeutically as well as support for our children’s developmental integration. Come enjoy an evening of learning to use eurythmy, learning how it supports child development and what it is!
Our guest speaker, Carla Beebe Comey, is an alumna and certified eurythmy instructor.
If you would like to utilize the complimentary childcare, please RSVP to wca@waldorfmoraine.org to help us plan ahead. Your friends outside of our enrollment are welcome to join us. Make sure to introduce them around so they feel welcomed.

Faculty/Staff Lunch
Friday, January 31, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
If you would like to make something to contribute please contact Jessica Brand-Alves at brand.jessica@gmail.com

Eco-Cleaning
Thursday, February 6, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Trayes Room (childcare provided)
It’ll be fun! We need volunteers to take home some natural cleaning recipes to trial and home. More than one person can trial a recipe and share their results. Would you like to trial one of our recipes? Please let us know. You can sign up in the community space or you can email us at wca@waldorfmoraine.org

Save the date!
Pi Day Pie Auction – Saturday, March 14, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Oh, you’re gonna want some pie! And we have lots of it. Join us for laughs, wine, appetizers, and pie!

Lastly, but not least, we share the verse we speak at each meeting…

“A healthy social life is found only when, in the mirror of each soul, the whole community finds its reflection, and when, in the whole community, the virtue of each one is living.”
– Rudolf Steiner
