We Teach Your Child to
Love Reading
Here at Waldorf School at Moraine Farm, we pride ourselves on a reading program that is unique among Waldorf schools. We know that each child’s reading journey is different and special, and that every child can be taught to love reading– and that’s exactly what we aim for.

What Makes Waldorf School At Moraine Farm a Reading School?
Reading is a fundamental part of education in all schools, but not every school would call themselves a Reading School. That’s what makes us different. Waldorf School at Moraine Farm is creating an ambitious reading program, which will be the keystone of our curriculum, that aims to nurture each child’s potential and foster a deep love of reading that they can carry through life.
At the start of the 2022-2023 school year, our school began working on a comprehensive reimagining of how we teach reading. We started with, and hold dear, the tenets of Waldorf education which tell us that engaging with literacy on multiple levels– through phonemic awareness, word play, speech, drama, and more– helps to create joy in learning. We then paired this with the latest results-backed research on literacy instruction, which recognizes that many students benefit from a mix of instructional forms, to create a program that is as unique as your child.
This program is part of our commitment to providing your child with a top quality education, in a supportive environment that allows them to grow and flourish, with the help of caring teachers and community members.
