Sixth grade has been learning what it was like to Sixth grade has been learning what it was like to live in Ancient Rome. They've studied the food, architecture, and entertainment. Last week, they journeyed through one of the most dramatic chapters of Roman history: the rivalry between Julius Caesar and Pompey. We followed Caesar’s conquests in Gaul, explored his encounters with the Celtic peoples and the Druids, and examined how these campaigns shaped both Rome and Caesar himself. The students were especially intrigued by the fact that we know so much about Caesar’s character, ambition, and leadership through his own military commentaries, which offer a rare and direct window into his thinking.
