Leading up to the Cultural Diversity Assembly on February 6, grades one, two, three and five participated in creating their own rhythm sticks to use during the Ghanaian song Obwisana that was the closing activity for the assembly. On Thursday, February 6th, grades one to eight participated in Cultural Diversity Assembly and the classes offered poems and music from different cultures and peoples around the world. The assembly opened with Mrs. Reed, our CARE Class teacher, leading everyone in a Samba dance lesson which can be seen here on our Community Facebook Page and closed with Ms. Smith, our Music teacher, leading the grades in a Ghanaian rhythm song. Tuesday, February 4th was the first day for EC children to use their brand-new playground located at the back of the school, adjacent to the existing nursery playground. Included in the playground is a play structure, a mini-house, and a sandpit. Mrs. Hill’s parent and child class were the first to break the playground in and by the happy looks on all of the children’s faces, the inaugural use was a huge success! This playground is currently being used by parent and child, Snowdrop and aftercare classes. (more…)
On Monday, January 20, Waldorf School at Moraine Farm will be closed to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A powerful orator and influential civil rights activist, MLK led many non-violent protests in the 1950s and 1960s to fight for the rights of all people. His legacy is one of diversity, equity, and inclusion; important ideals to the Waldorf School at Moraine Farm Community. Martin Luther King Jr. also shared a message of compassion which is the CARE class theme for January. (more…)
On Sunday, December 15, Jack Hogan lead a group of generous and committed volunteers in the building of a play structure in the new EC playground area. The weather was fantastic and so were the volunteers’ spirits! While one subset of volunteers built the play structure, another two (more…)
The school recently purchased a beautiful, lightly used play structure for the first/second-grade playground, which was dismantled and transported from its original home to the school two weeks ago. Last weekend, on December 8, a group of five nursery parents lovingly put it together in its place. (more…)
