On Saturday, October 5th at 7pm, Marshunda Smith, our very own 1st – 8th grade Music Teacher and Homeschool Program coordinator, will lead an ensemble of musicians on a journey through works by British composers Ralph Vaughan Williams, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and a “World Premiere” from local Danvers composer, Charles Turner. Bread Oven Project (UPDATE)
The outdoor bread oven is an element of our campus that we have desired to get back into working order for some time now. The oven was originally built six years ago by a former Waldorf staff member and alumnus parent, Kristen Fehlhaber. Unfortunately, it has succumbed to the elements after a few winters. Earth Oven Restoration and Call for Volunteers
Calling all parents, faculty, alumni, and staff to come help with our step of the earth oven construction. The students will build most of the oven. On Monday, September 30 from 10 am until 2 pm adults are invited to mix and apply a layer of cob as our contribution to this legacy project. Please come with work gloves and clothing that can get dirty. There are tasks appropriate for all ages so supervised children are welcome. Waldorf Community Association (WCA)
The WCA held a New Family Welcome Table at the 1 pm dismissal last week and enjoyed meeting some of our new families. The WCA also held its first general meeting this past week. We welcomed many new faces and a full schedule of activities and programs to keep us busy this year. These monthly meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm at school. We want to thank Stella Hellmann Flatt for her artistic drawing, Isabel Hogan for the beautiful words and Marshunda Smith & Ryan Hemphill for their artistry and all for the collaborative effort to create the beautiful new mural on the wall to the garden level. Back-to-School Ice Cream Social. Friday September 6
The Waldorf Community Association (WCA) welcomes everyone, old and new, to an ice cream social on Friday, Sept. 6. The social is right after the end of the school day, outside the main building. 1 pm for Nursery & Kindergarten students and families. 2:45 pm for Community & Grades students and families. (For students and families who have allergies & dietary restrictions, we will have alternatives available.)
The WCA is a volunteer, parent led organization that plans educational and social events throughout the year. Everyone is invited to be a member. Interested in getting involved? Reach out to Linda Wrinn or watch the school calendar and emails for monthly meetings.
Silk Dyeing Workshop Saturday, May 4, 9:30 am to noon
This weekend, celebrate spring with this fun, easy, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art of silk dyeing. Spend an hour or two with friends, learning to dye silks naturally. Each participant will dye 3 silks (like the ones we have in nursery and kindergarten) with beautiful natural colors like blue, yellow, red, and brown.
$50 workshop fee includes hands-on instruction and 3 silks. Delicious breakfast snack, coffee, and tea will be served.
Workshop will take place at the main school in the kindergarten playground.

Earth Oven Restoration Project Postponed
The earth oven restoration project has been postponed until this fall. We have discovered other possibilities for this project that will take more time to plan and execute. More details to share on this soon.
