Cultural Diversity Assembly

On Thursday, February 6th, grades one to eight participated in Cultural Diversity Assembly and the classes offered poems and music from different cultures and peoples around the world. The assembly opened with Mrs. Reed, our CARE Class teacher, leading everyone in a Samba dance lesson which can be seen here on our Community Facebook Page and closed with Ms. Smith, our Music teacher, leading the grades in a Ghanaian rhythm song. What is the Spiral of Light?

Inside the Great Hall, the early childhood teachers will have arranged pine boughs in a large spiral, decorated with crystals, flowers and shells. When all the attendees have sat down and settled, an angel will appear, carrying a single lit candle. With this, she will enter the spiral and light the flame in the center. (more…)

Hayride Trailer Needed

Hayride Trailer Needed

The school is organizing a straw bail ride for the Enchanted fair Dec 14. The school owns a small Kubota tractor B3200 and a Ford F350, either one could be used to pull a trailer around Moraine Farm on the day. Please let Mr. Hogan (jhogan@waldorfmoraine.org) know if you have a trailer that could hold 10 -15 people that we could borrow for the day. (more…)

WCA: What is Michaelmas?

Michaelmas (pronounced “mick-el-muss”) is one of the four seasonal festivals we celebrate on our Waldorf calendar. It is named for the biblical hero, Michael (meaning “Who is like God” in Hebrew). Other examples of this figure can be found in many cultures throughout time and history. (more…)
