About Maitland Mountain Farm
Holly Maitland and Andy Varela own and operate Maitland Mountain Farm, the only operating commercial farm in Salem, Massachusetts. Starting with their passion for local agriculture and creative flavors, they offer a unique and evolving lineup of pickled and fermented foods. What sets Maitland apart is its use of cold brine methods to produce small batches each week, ensuring the products their customers receive are always fresh.
Maitland Mountain Farm grows its own produce in season and maintains partnerships with other small local farms to maintain consistency and meet year-round demand. All Maitland foods are made by hand in their small North Shore facilities, are free of artificial preservatives and stabilizers, and are labeled with care to avoid common allergens.
Holly and Andy have a combined 40+ years of experience in the foodservice industry guiding the creation of their unique flavor profiles. From classic pickle spears to turmeric sauerkraut to mustard green beans, Maitland products are exciting to consumers and restaurant kitchens alike.
As parents of a third-grader at Waldorf School at Moraine Farm, Holly and Andy are appreciative of the opportunity to share their products with the community.

The Enchanted Caravan is also offering a specially curated bread & pastry box from North Shore’s favorite, A&J King Artisan Bakers. Place your online by Wednesday, March 3. Your order will be ready to pick-up at school Friday, March 5. Orders will be ready at 1:00 PM pickup and 2:45 PM pickup.
