Every fall, our school remembers David Siljeholm, who died on October 13, 2004, during his eighth-grade year at our school.
Especially for our new community members, we invite you to read this article published in Renewal magazine that Anita Brewer-Siljeholm, David’s mother, and Jenny Helmick, David’s class teacher at the time, wrote in 2012. The article recounts their experiences of that day, as well as how they and the school community worked together in the days, weeks, and years that followed.
Please note that at the time the article was published, our school was still named Cape Ann Waldorf School. At our Moraine Farm campus, David’s Court and David’s Cabin are among the profound gifts, both seen and unseen, that our school has received from the Brewer-Siljeholm family, beginning with David and his sister Marian joining our school.
A memorial gathering took place at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea, on October 13 at 5:00 PM.
