Looking for something a little different in a symphony orchestra? CommonWealth Orchestra Outreach Project has a concert show for you! The orchestra, aka COOP for short, is a reboot of the old school symphony orchestra that offers a new experience in classical music. COOP has an updated approach by playing classical music in a variety show format, and the music is written by local composers and other great American composers that somehow missed entry into the orchestral canon.
CommonWealth Orchestra will be performing at the Second Congregational Church in Beverly on Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 adults, $12 seniors and students, children under 12 free. The show is titled “Finding Our Voices” and features readings and poetry along with music by Charles Wakefield Cadman, Florence Price and local composers Tomoko Iwamoto and Charles Turner. This is a family-friendly event, so bring children and friends along. You can visit COOP’s Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/commonwealthorchestra/
