Be prepared for any outdoor adventure and get certified to work in outdoor organizations and camps.
Join this two-day Wilderness Medical Associates course, April 22 -23, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm each day. This certification is ideal for seasonal outdoor staff and those involved in recreational wilderness trips.
The course is taught by a national registry EMT (NREMT) and a Wilderness EMT (WEMT) who holds a certificate of travel health from the International Society of Travel Medicine. He also happens to be a Waldorf School at Moraine Farm 8th-grade parent. This course is what most college outing clubs require for trip leaders. The certification lasts three years.
Curriculum will include: the patient assessment system (PAS), basic life support including CPR, big 3 systems, the musculoskeletal system, lifting/moving/extrication, thermoregulation, lightning, drowning, toxins/bites/stings, allergy/anaphylaxis (and administration of epinephrine).
Certifications will include Wilderness First Aid, Basic Life Support (including Adult CPR)) and allergy/anaphylaxis workshop.
This course is for ages 16+.
The cost of the course is $350. All proceeds will go towards the 8th-grade class trip happening this spring.
